1. Does the goat chew coffee?
Legend has it that the discovery of coffee came from a herd of goats in Ethiopia. A shepherd, after observing his goats acting strangely and having excessive energy, found them eating coffee beans. Thus, he became aware through this event of the action of caffeine.
2. Cappuccino celebrates every year!
There is a World Cappuccino Day! On November 8th, cappuccino lovers can enjoy it... in a festive way. One of our favourite coffee stories concerns its name, which in Italian means "hood". The suffix '-ino' is a diminutive, meaning 'little hood', and is a nickname given to it by a group of Franciscan monks who wore white hoods, reminiscent of the cappuccino froth.
3. The time is 11:01 ... espresso!
Coffee is directly linked to the secretion of cortisol in our body, which is at its highest around 10-11am. This is considered the ideal time for your coffee to "get you going". Espresso Breakfast, then, is no accident!
4. The cafe of the revolution
In the 17th century, the first cafés were created, where activists and intellectuals discussed over coffee. In 1675, the King of England banned coffee shops as he feared that a revolution might be organised in them, as happened with the French Revolution, which started in a coffee shop.
5. Coffee Outlives Us
Coffee can live longer than humans! So a coffee plant can live up to 200 years.
6. Strange varieties
Two of the strangest and most expensive varieties of coffee come from... the droppings of elephants and an Asian cat breed. These animals are often fed coffee beans and the processing that takes place in their stomachs is said to give the bean a wonderful aroma. Would you try them?
7. Do it like the coffee connoisseurs
Coffee connoisseurs swallow each sip loudly and intensely, making a sound similar to a whistle. In this way, they activate every part of their mouth to taste it in every way and awaken all its aromas.
8. Did we remind you of wine?
If you must know, coffee has more aromatic characteristics than wine. In fact, in coffee you can find around 1500, while in wine you can find only 200.
9. Enjoy it fast!
The taste of coffee is said to be lost, as time passes, up to 70%. We trust the coffee snobs-geeks and know that they drink their espresso in Italian style. Maybe the taste of your freddo is lost a bit after an hour, but we like to enjoy our coffee slowly while we stroll.
